Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 20, 2026
Introduction
Raindrop ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and safeguard it, and the limited circumstances in which it is shared, when you use our macOS application, website, and related services (collectively, "the Services"). It also includes specific disclosures about how we handle information obtained through Google APIs.
Information We Collect
Audio and Meeting Data
Raindrop records and transcribes your meetings entirely on your device. The audio itself never leaves your device and is never uploaded to the cloud. Only the generated text transcript is sent to our servers for processing features such as summaries and action items.
Google User Data
When you choose to connect your Google account, Raindrop requests only the access needed for the features you use, and only after you grant consent:
- Google account profile and email — used to authenticate you and create your Raindrop account (your name, email address, and profile picture).
- Google Calendar — used to read your events so Raindrop can match recordings to the right meeting and provide context, and, when you ask an agent such as @gmeet, to create calendar events and follow-ups on your behalf.
We request the narrowest scopes necessary for these features. You can disconnect your Google account at any time from within the application, which immediately revokes Raindrop's access.
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect your email address and basic profile information necessary to provide the Services.
Usage Data
We collect anonymous usage statistics to improve our application, including feature usage patterns and error reports. This data does not include your meeting content.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate you and maintain your account
- Provide and maintain the Services
- Match recordings to your calendar events and schedule follow-ups when you request them
- Generate summaries and action items from your meeting transcripts
- Enable interactions with third-party connectors (Linear, Google Meet, Slack, and others) at your request
- Improve and optimize our application
- Communicate with you about updates and support
Google User Data and Limited Use
Raindrop's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features you request within Raindrop.
- We do not sell Google user data, and we do not use it for advertising of any kind.
- We do not share Google user data with anyone other than Raindrop, except (a) with service providers who process it solely on our behalf to deliver the features you request, under confidentiality and data-protection obligations; (b) where required to comply with applicable law; or (c) as part of a merger or acquisition, with notice to you.
- We do not use Google user data to train, develop, or improve generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
- We do not allow humans to read your Google user data unless you give explicit consent, it is necessary for security purposes or to comply with applicable law, or the data has been aggregated and de-identified.
Raindrop's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
AI and Machine Learning Processing
Some Raindrop features — such as summaries, action items, and natural-language search — are powered by large language models (LLMs). To generate these results, Raindrop sends the relevant content (primarily your meeting transcripts, and in some cases related context such as a meeting's title or time) to trusted AI/LLM providers (such as OpenAI) that process it on our behalf.
Before any content is sent for LLM processing, it is de-personalized: it is stripped of account identifiers and is not linked to your identity. These providers act strictly as data processors — they process the content only to return the requested result to Raindrop, and do not retain it or use it to train or improve their own models. No content is sent to any AI provider in a form that identifies you.
Your meeting audio is never sent for LLM processing — it never leaves your device. We do not use Google user data to train, develop, or improve any generalized or non-personalized AI/ML models.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these limited cases:
- Service providers / processors — trusted vendors (such as cloud hosting and AI/LLM providers) who process data solely on our behalf and under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- At your direction — when you ask Raindrop to send content to a connected service (for example, creating a Linear ticket or posting a summary to Slack).
- Legal requirements — when required to comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or an enforceable governmental request.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you.
Outside of these cases, your data — including all Google user data — is stored and used only for Raindrop's own purposes.
Connectors and Third-Party Integrations
Raindrop allows you to connect third-party services ("connectors") such as Linear, Slack, Notion, and others. When you interact with these connectors through Raindrop's AI agents, we act as a pass-through — we call the respective third-party APIs on your behalf in real time to fulfill your request.
We do not store, cache, or retain any data retrieved from these connectors on our servers. Your connector data remains in the third-party service at all times. Raindrop only facilitates the interaction between you and the third-party API at the moment you request it, and no connector data persists on our infrastructure after the request is completed.
You can revoke access to any connector at any time from within the application, which immediately disables Raindrop's ability to call that service's API on your behalf.
Data Storage and Security
Meeting audio is stored exclusively on your local device and is never transmitted to our servers. Only text transcripts are sent to and stored on our servers, encrypted both in transit and at rest. Google user data is likewise encrypted in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. You retain full control over your data and can delete it at any time.
Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. When you delete content or disconnect a service, we delete the associated data — including Google user data — from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required to comply with applicable law.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Export your data in a portable format
- Opt out of analytics collection
Children's Privacy
Raindrop is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
